Sharing Christmas Toys

We were up pretty early on Christmas morning. Both our girls were here but I think it was our dogs who were more excited than them. We all sat by our Christmas tree and Christine handed out the gifts as she does every year.

I purchased a stocking full of toys for our dogs. Booker had his own all to his self. He loves the toys that have the squeaky toy in the middle. He tears the toy up to get to it. I was certain that the toy Santa would meet this fate. He carefully try to stuff each toy in his mouth because he was not going to share. He managed at one point to get 3 in his mouth. He walked around wagging his tail with excitement.

Then we gave him his big bone. Something we only give him at Christmas time, so he knows it’s something special. He started his chewing and pulling at it. So happy and content. Then all of a sudden he drop it and went to the Santa toy. He picked it up  and motioned that he wanted to go outside. So I let him out and went about with my cleaning up all the wrapping paper.

At this point I had to leave, because I had a few dog walks to do in Altamonte Springs, Winter Park, Casselberry and Orlando. Nothing that took to long, but it was long enough for me to think about Booker all of a sudden giving up his prized big bone and picking up the Santa toy.  Then it dawned on me where he was headed. I had a feeling he was going to his sister’s Magic‘s grave in our backyard.

So when I got home from all my pet sitter duties, I took at walk in the backyard and sure enough there was the Santa toy on top of Magic’s grave. After taking a closer look he had also put the reindeer toy there as well. He always happily shared with Magic when she was with us and he won’t let her go without any toys now. I’m trying my hardiest to get a video of him going to her grave. He’s so secretive about it.

So today is both Booker’s and Magic’s birthday. The big 10. I sang Happy Birthday to him and just asked ” are you going to go wish your sister a Happy Birthday”. He grab the Santa and Reindeer and head out to see her. I did get a picture of him with the toys and at her grave. Very rare.

They always had an incredible bond and when they would go on their dog walks together it was just them. No one else was allowed. A dog’s love is an incredible thing.
