Prayers For Pets

Lately it seems I have more than one client that’s having major or unexpected health issues with their pets. I’m a strong believer in prayer. Most people would automatically think you would just pray for family, friends, health and happiness. I do pray for those things but I also pray for all my critters that I dog walk.
Every year on October 3rd is the festival of St. Francis of Assisi. We pack up our own critters and head to St. Francis of Assisi church in Apopka for the annual blessing of the animals. It’s a great event to celebrate. There’s so many happy doggies, cats, birds you name it, they’re there. At this event they bless your pet(s). I love that.

St. Francis of Assisi

If you’re not familiar with St. Francis, he is the patron saint of all animals. St. Francis had a love for all animals and could communicate with them. While traveling one day with some companions, St. Francis saw several trees filled with birds. He told his friends to wait so he could go and preach to the birds. What was astonishing was that the birds flew to him, surrounded him and listen to him preach. Another story was about a  wolf that was terrifying a village. It had devoured men and several animals. St. Francis went into the woods found the wolf and the wolf sat at his feet and listened to every word St. Francis had to say. Later St. Francis took the wolf into the village and worked out a truce between the wolf and the villagers. The wolf was just hungry and the villagers agreed to feed it. All was well after that. It is said that on his death-bed St. Francis thanked his donkey for carrying and helping him throughout his life. The donkey wept.
I have always had a blessed statue of St. Francis in my yard protecting my pets. I gave one to Dayna to place on the farm in Sorrento. She has so many animals that I thought she needed it. There are several of my critters out there that need prayers right now. Bretta in Altamonte Springs, Simon in Sorrento, Nikki in Maitland and Lacy in Longwood. I pet sit for all of them and love them very much and I just want them to get healthy. So please take a moment and pray to St. Francis to intercede to make them healthy.
