Mom Stepped In What?

As most of you know we just got back from vacation. While we were gone my mother-in-law watched our dogs. She lives right up the road and our dogs love going over to her place in Apopka.  She has lots of property for the dogs to run, play, and do their business. We always say to them….”ya’ll ready to go to Grandma’s” and they go crazy with excitement. It’s like their little road trip.

Like all parents of little critters, we called everyday to check on them. We knew they were in good hands but you just can’t help making that phone call. Our critters are no different from other critters out there, they have their mischievous side too. They show us that side whenever we leave. This last vacation was no exception.

It all started with Mom taking our critters outside for a doggie walk. She let them take their time and explore as much as they wanted. They chased each other, smelled the grass and made lots of pee but that was it.  Now being a pet sitter , I have been on enough doggie walks to know that if a dog doesn’t do his or her thing in 30 minutes he or she  just won’t. So Mom took them back inside and what’s the first thing they do? They made poo inside her house and to add insult to injury she stepped in it.

Do we look like we could do something like that? Please!

At first I thought maybe there nervous, maybe even scared without us there. I should have brought Baz’s Thundershirt for the occasion. Then Mom told us how Dior was desperately trying to get at Baz’s food by reaching from one crate into another with her paw. She was working real hard at it but to no avail. Then came the story of how she tried to let them sleep in the bed with her but there was the slight problem of her own dog Molly being jealous that they were in the bed. Molly would just bark at anything and then it became a chain reaction. All dogs jumping off the bed, running down the hall way barking mad and basically scaring the crap out of an old lady. That was Dior Chihuahua Security on duty.

Needless to say she got no peace or sleep the first night we left and our critters ended up spending their nights in their crates for the rest of our vacation.  When we arrived back in Orlando and after speaking to Mom, I realized they were acting out because we left them and they were going to make us pay….any way they could. Luckily Mom loves our critters as her own and all is forgiven. So don’t think that just because I’m a pet sitter I have well-behaved critters, they may have won the worse behaved award last week.
